Poulton Library Safe Removal of Glass

As part of the ongoing improvement works at Poulton Library, our team has completed the careful removal of the large glass units from the front of the building.

There were four units in total, each weighing a different amount, with the heaviest reaching 280kg. To prepare for the removal, our joiner  de beaded the windows both internally and externally, ensuring the glass could be released safely.

With the support of a spider crane and suction pads, each unit was carefully lifted clear of the building. Due to their size, the panels could not be loaded directly into the tipper. Instead, they were first moved to a safe working space, where the laminated glass was broken down before being disposed of securely.

This stage of the project highlights the planning, skill, and safety measures that go into complex works of this kind.

The Poulton Library project is proudly funded by Lancashire County Council and represents another important step in delivering modern, safe, and welcoming community facilities.
