Introduction
Halton Branch Library is a well used and much loved community facility located on Penny Stone Road, Halton, Lancaster. The building, originally timber framed with weatherboard cladding and single glazed windows, required essential refurbishment to improve energy efficiency, ensure structural integrity, and enhance its overall appearance.
Lancashire County Council appointed our team to deliver a comprehensive programme of roofing, cladding and window replacement works, while safeguarding the building’s heritage character and maintaining safe community access throughout the project.

This project involved the full external refurbishment of Halton Branch Library, focusing on improving thermal performance, weather resistance, and long term durability. Works included the installation of a new Bauder warm roof system, replacement aluminium double glazed windows, and the refurbishment of existing timber cladding. Delivered within a live environment, the project required careful planning, coordination, and protection of internal spaces to ensure minimal disruption to library services while achieving a modern, efficient and visually improved community facility.
