Bambers Commence Critical Repair Works at Preston Bus Station
Bambers have commenced Stage 1 improvement works at Preston Bus Station on behalf of Lancashire County Council, focusing initially on Area 1 (Car Park Ramp) and Area 4 (Main Entrance).
Area 1 forms one of the primary access routes to the upper level parking deck. The existing car park deck system has deteriorated over a number of years due to sustained heavy traffic, resulting in surface delamination and failure of the original coating.
Specialist contractors have been appointed to undertake a full refurbishment of the deck system.
The working area has been closed under managed traffic control arrangements and is expected to remain closed for approximately one week while works are completed.
Area 4 comprises the main entrance to Preston Bus Station and is considered a critical operational zone. Significant potholing has developed within this area, creating a risk of damage to buses and other vehicles.
Due to the high volume of daytime traffic, works are being undertaken during restricted night time hours between 12:00am and 5:00am. Traffic management measures are in place to ensure safety and continuity of operations.
Given the close proximity of residential buildings, noise levels are being carefully monitored throughout the works to minimise disruption to local residents.
Extensive planning has been required to coordinate temporary closure of this essential entrance while maintaining the operational requirements of the bus station.
